CBVE-FM Québec and its transmitter CBVN-FM New Carlisle –Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBVN-FM New Carlisle, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBVE-FM Québec, Quebec (Radio One), by decreasing the effective radiated power from 800 to 700 watts, decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 92.5 to 89.3 metres and changing the geographic coordinates of the transmitter site. The Commission did not receive any interventions in regard to this application.
- The CBC indicated that the antenna will be co-located with that of CBGA-FM-1 New Carlisle, a rebroadcasting transmitter for the French-language radio station CBGA-FM Matane (ICI Radio-Canada Première). The licensee stated that the technical changes will allow it to replace a time-worn antenna and to combine on the services of Radio One and ICI Radio-Canada Première on a single antenna, thereby optimizing operational costs and maintaining excellent coverage in New Carlisle and surrounding areas.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 27 July 2020. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
