CBGA-FM Matane and its transmitter CBGA-FM-16 Chandler – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBGA-FM-16 Chandler, Quebec, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the French-language radio programming undertaking CBGA-FM Matane, Quebec (ICI Radio-Canada Première), by increasing the effective radiated power from 1,010 to 1,530 watts, decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 13.8 to 9.83 metres and changing the coordinates of the transmitter site. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The CBC proposed to install a new antenna on the existing tower to replace the timeworn antenna. The licensee indicated that CBGA-FM-16 will be co-located with the rebroadcasting transmitter CBVB-FM Chandler (Radio One) to optimize operating costs while ensuring high-quality service for Chandler and surrounding areas.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 24 May 2020. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
