CBVE-FM Québec and its transmitter CBVB-FM Chandler – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBVB-FM Chandler, Quebec, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBVE-FM Québec, Quebec (Radio One), by changing the class from A1 to A, increasing the effective radiated power from 222 to 470 watts, increasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from -2.1 to 9.83 metres, and correcting the existing coordinates. The Commission did not receive any interventions in regard to this application.
- The new antenna will be co-located with the antenna for CBGA-FM-16 Chandler (ICI Radio-Canada Première), a rebroadcasting transmitter of the CBC’s French-language radio station CBGA-FM Matane, Quebec. The licensee stated that the technical changes will allow for the replacement of a time-worn antenna and the combination of its Radio One and ICI Radio-Canada Première services in a single antenna, which will optimize operating costs while maintaining excellent coverage for Chandler and surrounding areas.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 24 May 2020. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
