Applications for a national, multilingual multi-ethnic television service offering news and information programming, which, if licensed, would receive mandatory distribution on the basic service pursuant to section 9(1)(h) of the Broadcasting Act

Deadline for the filing of undertakings: 6 December 2018
Deadline for the filing of final submissions from interveners: 18 December 2018
Deadline for the filing of final replies by applicants: 14 January 2019

The Commission announces that it is introducing additional process in regard to the applications being considered in the context of the proceeding initiated by Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2018-127.

Parties appearing at the oral phase of the proceeding may be asked to provide written responses to Commission questions at the hearing. The deadline for the filing of such undertakings is 6 December 2018.

The Commission will accept final submissions from parties who have intervened in this proceeding, provided that a copy of a submission relating to a particular application is also sent to the applicant. Final submissions must be received by the Commission by no later than 18 December 2018.

Applicants who wish to file final replies with the Commission must do so by no later than 14 January 2019.

Final submissions and final replies must not exceed 10 pages each. Parties are reminded that these documents must address comments made only during the oral phase and in responses to undertakings. Final replies may also address comments made in the final submissions filed by parties. The Commission will not take into consideration comments dealing with any other matters; such comments will not form part of the record of this proceeding. In addition, applicants are not to introduce new evidence as part of their final replies.
