RE:  Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2017-33, Review of the regulatory framework for text-based message relay services

Dear Ms. Anderson-Kellett and Mr. Folino:

The Commission is in receipt of your letter dated 3 April 2017 (attached) in connection with Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2017-33 (TNC 2017-33) to review the regulatory framework for text-based message relay services.

In your letter, you provided a finalized list of questions that the Canadian Association of the Deaf-Association des Sourds du Canada and Deaf Wireless Canada Committee (hereinafter, collectively referred to as “your groups”) will use for their survey.

In addition, your letter made a procedural request to extend the deadline for your groups to file an intervention from 3 April 2017 to 10 April 2017, due to a personal medical emergency of your lead writer. Commission staff considers that, in light of the circumstances, it is appropriate to extend the deadline to 10 April 2017 for your groups to file an intervention.

However, staff is reminding you that if procedural requests for extensions are required, they can be submitted at any time prior to the applicable deadline, but should be made as far in advance of the deadline as possible, rather than on the day of the deadline.

Despite the above-noted extension, all other deadlines set out in TNC 2017-33 remain unchanged.

If you have any questions with regards to this letter, please contact Bradley Gaudet at bradley.gaudet@crtc.gc.ca.

Yours sincerely,

Nanao Kachi
