Renaming of Spike TV as Paramount Network on the List of non-Canadian programming services and stations authorized for distribution
- In Distribution of Spike TV by broadcasting distribution undertakings, Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2005-9, 27 January 2005, the Commission approved the addition of Spike TV: The First Network for Men, a non-Canadian English-language men’s lifestyle programming service, to the List of non-Canadian programming services and stations authorized for distribution (the list). This service is operated by the international media company Viacom Inc.
- In a letter to the Commission dated 23 August 2017, Viacom Inc.’s Canadian representative Jessop & Proulx LLP indicated that effective 18 January 2018, the service would change its name to Paramount Network and confirmed that the nature of the service would remain unchanged. Accordingly, the Commission amends the list to reflect this name change. The revised list can be found on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca and may be obtained in hard copy on request.
