CBL-FM Toronto and its transmitter CBL-FM-4 Owen Sound – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBL-FM-4 Owen Sound, Ontario, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBL-FM Toronto, Ontario (Radio 2), by installing a new circular directional antenna, increasing the maximum effective radiated power (ERP) from 17,500 to 20,220 watts, decreasing the average ERP from 17,500 to 7,939 watts, decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 212 to 210.6 meters and correcting the existing coordinates. The Commission did not receive any interventions in regard to this application.
- The CBC stated that the requested technical changes will allow its Radio One and Radio 2 services to be combined on a single antenna, maintaining excellent coverage for Owen Sound and surrounding areas.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The transmitter must be operational with implemented technical changes at the earliest possible date and in any event no later than 24 months from the date of this decision, unless a request for an extension of time is approved by the Commission before 24 November 2019. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before that date.
