CKNT Mississauga – Technical change
- The Commission approves the application by 8159203 Canada Limited (8159203 Canada) to change the authorized contours of the English-language commercial AM radio programming undertaking CKNT Mississauga by relocating the transmitter site. The technical parameters approved in English-language AM radio station in Mississauga, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2011-722, 22 November 2011 (Broadcasting Decision 2011-722) (i.e., frequency 960 kHz with a transmitter power of 2,000 watts daytime and 280 watts night time) will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The licensee stated that three previous transmitter sites have proven to be unsuitable. It further stated that approval of the present application will allow it to proceed with the launch of the station before the current deadline of 30 November 2017.Footnote 1
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The transmitter must be operational with the implemented technical change by no later than 30 November 2017. Should the licensee fail to meet that implementation deadline, the authority granted by the Commission in Broadcasting Decision 2011-722 will become null and void. 8159203 Canada would therefore be required to submit a new application for a broadcasting licence should it wish to operate the radio station.
