CBYG-FM Prince George and its transmitter CBKQ-FM Dawson Creek – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBKQ-FM Dawson Creek, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBYG-FM Prince George, British Columbia (Radio One), by moving the transmitter site, changing its class from B to A and decreasing the effective radiated power from 1,100 to 816 watts and the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 289.5 to 104.9 metres. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The CBC explained that the rebroadcasting transmitter will be co-located with its ICI Radio-Canada Première service CBUF-FM-7 Dawson Creek on a single antenna and will maintain Radio One’s coverage in the area.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The transmitter must be operational with implemented technical changes at the earliest possible date and in any event no later than 24 months from the date of this decision, unless a request for an extension of time is approved by the Commission before 25 January 2019. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before that date.
