Dear Mrs. Blais
Re: Request for corrections to Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2016-224 – Policy framework for local and community television
The Commission is in receipt of a letter from the Syndicat canadien de la fonction publique (SCFP) on behalf of the Conseil provincial du secteur des communications (CPSC) (collectively the SCFP) dated 4 August 2016, requesting that the Commission reconsider staff’s response to its letter dated 6 July 2016.
In its letters, SCFP notes that paragraphs 40, 42 and 46 of Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2016-224 – Policy framework for local and community television (the Policy) contain errors or inaccuracies with respect to certain positions expressed by CPSC during the proceeding initiated by Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2015-421 (the proceeding). SCFP requests that the Commission correct the wording of those paragraphs and publish an amended version of the Policy.
The Commission recognizes that the summary of CPSC’s positions contained in paragraphs 42 and 46 of the Policy, as well as in the French-language version of paragraph 40, are inaccurate or imprecise. However, because the inaccuracies did not have a direct impact on the final decision made by the Commission and SCFP has not demonstrated any material harm resulting from the inaccuracies, the Commission denies the request to publish a corrected version of the Policy. However, all correspondence, including the current letter, will be added to the public file of the proceeding.
Yours sincerely,
Danielle May-Cuconato
Secretary General
