CHOU Montréal and its new transmitter – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by 9015-2018 Québec inc. to change the technical parameters of the transmitter for its AM radio programming undertaking CHOU Montréal, approved in CHOU Montréal – New low-power FM transmitter in Saint-Léonard, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2016-72, 25 February 2016. The licensee wishes to move the transmitter to a new site located approximately 500 metres from the current site, decrease the effective radiated power from 50 to 49 watts and increase the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 22.3 to 60.3 meters. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The licensee indicated that it has not been able to come to an agreement with the owner of the location originally contemplated for the new transmitter.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The transmitter must be operational with implemented technical changes at the earliest possible date and in any event no later than 24 months from the date of this decision, unless a request for an extension of time is approved by the Commission before 29 November 2018. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before that date.
