Subject: Shaw Communications Inc. Tariff Notice 22A
Dear Sir:
On 6 January 2015, the Commission received Tariff Notice (TN) 22 submitted by Shaw Communications Inc. (Shaw), in which Shaw proposed the introduction of the following five new Internet services within their Third Party Internet Access (TPIA) service offering, with a proposed effective date of 6 February 2015:
Internet 5 - up to 5 Mbps download and 512 Kbps upload
Internet 15 - up to 15 Mbps download and 512 Kbps upload
Internet 20 - up to 20 Mbps download and 1.5 Mbps upload
Internet 30 - up to 30 Mbps download and 2.5 Mbps upload
Internet 60 - up to 60 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload
On 19 February 2015, the Commission received TN 22A submitted by Shaw in which the company proposed modifications to the rates it had proposed initially in TN 22.
On 2 March 2015, the Commission published Telecom Order 2015-73 in which it approved the introduction of the service speeds proposed by Shaw in TN 22, setting the rates on an interim basis based on the rates of Shaw’s existing nearest lower-speed services. Telecom Order 2015-73 did not address Shaw’s proposal in TN 22A.
On 23 March 2015, the Commission received a review and vary application from Shaw with respect to Telecom Order 2015-73.
Commission staff is continuing its analysis on Shaw’s review and vary application and TN 22A and will be unable to dispose of the tariff application before 27 April 2015. However, the Commission intends to dispose of TN 22A following its disposition of Shaw’s review and vary application.
Sincerely,
