Re: Broadcasting application 2015-0702-1

Mr. Larose,

This is in reference to application 2015-0702-1 filed by Aboriginal Peoples Television Network Inc. to amend the licence of the national English- and French-language specialty Category A service Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), which was published pursuant to Part 1 of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Rules of Practice and Procedure on 16 July 2015 (the Application).

Additional process is required in order to ensure that the Commission makes a determination on the basis of a sufficiently robust record.  Accordingly, the current process related to the Application will be closed, and the Commission will issue a Notice of Consultation calling for comment on APTN’s proposed licence amendment, as well as on the broader policy implications that this proposal may have.

The material comprising the public file of the Application will be incorporated into the record of the forthcoming Notice of Consultation, and the Commission may request further information of APTN prior to issuing the Notice.

A copy of this letter and all future related correspondence will be added to the public record of the Notice of Consultation.

Yours sincerely,
