Procedural Letter: Application 2015-0300-6 – CIRV-FM Toronto Request for abbreviated process

Dear Mr. Jessop:

On 27 March 2015, CIRC Radio Inc. requested that the Commission conduct an abbreviated process with respect to the above noted application involving a condition of licence amendment. More specifically, CIRC Radio Inc. requested that the Commission issue a decision approving this application prior to 31 May 2015 to ensure continuity of the Portuguese-language subsidiary communications multiplex operations (SCMO) radio service in Toronto currently broadcast on a CBL-FM (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) SCMO.

Commission staff notes that your application proposes to replace CIRV-FM’s authority to use a SCMO channel for the purpose of broadcasting a predominantly Vietnamese –language radio serviceFootnote 1 with the existing Portuguese-language radio service referred to above.

Although, no guarantee  can be given regarding whether the Commission will approve any application or issues a decision prior to 31 May 2015, the condition of licence amendment proposed appears to be minor (as the Portuguese-language radio service already exists), therefore Commission staff approves a shortened timeline associated with the processing of this application. Accordingly, the timetable for the process will be as follows:

Subject Posted Date Deadlines
