CKBI Prince Albert and its transmitter CKBI-FM-1 Big River - Technical changes

  1. The Commission approves the application by Jim Pattison Broadcast Group Ltd. (the general partner) and Jim Pattison Industries Ltd. (the limited partner), carrying on business as Jim Pattison Broadcast Group Limited Partnership (Jim Pattison LP), to change the authorized contours of CKBI-FM-1 Big River, Saskatchewan, a transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CKBI Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, by increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 1,100 to 1,400 watts, by decreasing the maximum ERP from 1,900 to 1,400 watts, by decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 104.5 to 86.9 metres and by relocating the transmitter to a new site.Footnote 1 The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

  2. The licensee stated that the tower on which the transmitter is located has been damaged beyond repair and that a new transmitter site is required.

  3. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
