Review of the regulatory framework for French-language vocal music applicable to the French-language commercial radio sector

New deadline for submission of updated comments: 10 February 2017

  1. Further to Broadcasting Notices of Consultation 2015-318, 2015-318-1, 2015-318-2, 2015-318-3 and 2015-318-4, the Commission has received two separate requests for an extension of time to provide updated comments in the current proceeding. Specifically, these requests were filed by:
    • various associations representing the music industry: Association québécoise de l’industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ), Professional Music Publishers’ Association (APEM), Artisti, Quebec Musicians’ Guild (GMMQ), Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), Society for reproduction rights of authors, composers and publishers in Canada (SODRAC), Quebec Collective Society for the Rights of Makers of Sound and Video Recordings (SOPROQ), Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec (SPACQ) and Union des artistes (UDA); and
    • members representing the radio industry: Association des radios régionales francophones, Attraction Radio inc., Bell Media Inc., Cogeco Media Inc., Leclerc Communication inc. and RNC MEDIA Inc.
  1. Having considered the requests, the Commission announces that the new deadline to submit updated comments for this proceeding has been extended to 10 February 2017.
