CBFX-FM Montréal and its transmitter CBFX-FM-3 Amos; CHLM-FM Rouyn-Noranda and its transmitter CHLM-FM-1 Amos/Val-d’Or – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of CBFX-FM-3 Amos, a transmitter of the French-language radio programming undertaking CBFX-FM Montréal (ICI Musique). Specifically, the licensee proposed to relocate the transmitter to Malartic, to change the transmitter class from B to C1, to modify the polarization of the antenna from horizontal to elliptical (directional antenna), to increase the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 32,400 to 47,750 watts (maximum ERP from 50,000 to 100,000 watts) and to increase the effective height of antenna above average terrain (EHAAT) from 150 to 189.1 metres.
- The Commission also approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of CHLM-FM-1 Amos/Val-d’Or, a transmitter of the French-language radio programming undertaking CHLM-FM Rouyn-Noranda (ICI Radio-Canada Première). Specifically, the licensee proposed to relocate the transmitter to Malartic, to change the transmitter class from B to C1, to modify the polarization of the antenna from horizontal to elliptical (directional antenna), to increase the average ERP from 34,400 to 44,980 watts (maximum ERP from 50,000 to 100,000 watts) and to increase the EHAAT from 150 to 189.1 metres.
- The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding these applications.
- The licensee stated that the new site in Malartic will better serve Malartic and Val-d’Or while continuing to serve Amos with signals of similar strength and will reduce costs related to the current transmitters, which are located on a tower owned by RNC MEDIA Inc.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, these authorities will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that broadcasting certificates will be issued.
