Re: Follow-up to the Accessibility Policy (Regulatory Policy 2009-430), Mobile Wireless Services

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am writing to follow up on the letter dated 28 January 2014, that announced the commissioning of a report from Connectus Consulting Inc. (Connectus). Please find enclosed English and French versions of the final report, also available at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/publications/reports/rp141008.htm.

The Connectus report reviews the progress made by the Canadian Wireless Service Providers (WSPs) in the provision of accessible mobile wireless handsets since a 2011 assessment conducted by OCAD University (Mobile Wireless Handset Accessibility Assessment). The Connectus report provides an independent updated perspective with respect to how accessible mobile wireless handsets are being made available by the Canadian WSPs in accordance with the Accessibility Policy, as well as providing recommendations for future action.

This report will inform initiatives pertaining to the accessibility of mobile wireless services, including pending activities related to the Commission’s priorities given in its Three-Year Plan 2014-2017.

Sincerely,
