RE: Application for costs award with respect to the participation of PIAC in the proceeding initiated by TELUS Communication Company’s application seeking an interpretation of the Wireless Code

Dear Sir:

On 8 May 2014, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) applied for costs with respect to its participation in the proceeding initiated by TELUS Communications Company (TCC)’s application seeking an interpretation of the Wireless Code.  TCC’s application was filed pursuant to Part 1 of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Rules of Practice and Procedure, SOR/2010-277 (the Rules of Procedure) and posted on the Commission’s website on 5 March 2014.

The purpose of this letter is to request additional information relating to PIAC’s application for costs in the proceeding. Commission staff notes that, in its application, PIAC has recited the criteria for an award of costs as set out in the Rules of Procedure and has submitted that it satisfies these criteria. However, Commission staff notes that PIAC has not made any submissions demonstrating how it has satisfied these criteria. In order to support PIAC’s application for costs, Commission staff requests that PIAC provide such submissions, demonstrating how it has met the criteria for an award of costs in the proceeding.

The requested information is to be filed with the Commission by 30 June 2014.  A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.

Yours Sincerely,
