RE: Letter of 22 April 2014 requesting information pursuant to Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2014-44 – Changes to filing date, and clarification of Question 6
Dear Madam, Sir:
On 22 April 2014, the Inquiry Officer reviewing matters related to transport services provided by satellite, appointed in Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2014-44, issued a letter with various requests for information.
By letter dated 28 April 2014, Intelsat Corporation (Intelsat) requested an extension to the filing date for responding to the questions. Intelsat submitted that it is not in a position to respond by the requested date of 13 May 2014, as the information being sought is extensive, which takes time and is difficult to compile.
In light of the detailed information being sought, the request for an extension is appropriate in the circumstances. Accordingly, the deadline to file responses to the requests for information is extended to 30 May 2014.
In addition, in recognition of the detailed nature of the requests for information and the workload involved in responding to them, Question 6 from Appendix A of the Inquiry Officer’s 22 April 2014 letter, and Question 4 of Appendix B of that letter, are hereby revised as follows:
How many ground stations do you own or operate that, in whole or in part, support FSS used to provide telecommunications services and are located in communities that are wholly dependent on FSS for the provision of telecommunications services? For each ground station, identify:
- the location of the ground stations (e.g. provide the community name, longitude, latitude, and any other relevant information);
- the satellite(s) at which they are pointing;
- the number of antennas (dishes); and
- the ground station capacity that is used to provide telecommunications services.
Yours sincerely,
