Re : Request for extension to VDSL modem testing requirements set out in Telecom Decision CRTC 2013-659 (Decision 2013-659), Review of outstanding wholesale high-speed access service issues related to interface rates, optional upstream speed rates and modem certification requirements

Dear Ms Morin and Mr. Gauvin:

Staff is in receipt of a letter dated 21 January 2014 from Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership and Bell Canada (the Bell companies) indicating that the Bell companies are unable to meet the tariff and other regulatory requirements for VDSL modems set out in Decision 2013-659, and requesting a 45 day extension (to 10 March 2014) to these requirements.

Staff notes that the Bell companies have conferred with the Canadian Network Operators Consortium (CNOC) on this issue and, according to the Bell companies, CNOC accepts the delay.

In the circumstances, Commission staff considers that the Bell companies requested extension is appropriate.

Sincerely,
