RE:  SaskTel Tariff Notices 288 and 288A – Revisions to various services

Dear Sir:

On 8 October 2013, the Commission received an application from Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel), under Tariff Notice 288, in which the company proposed, among other things, to eliminate Extended Area Service and Excess Mileage charges for single-line business and Centrex customers in all rate bands. On 9 December 2013, the Commission received an amended application, under Tariff Notice 288A, which included tariff pages that were not included in the original application.

Paragraph 28(1) (a) of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Rules of Practice and Procedure provides that the Commission may request parties to file information or documents where needed.

SaskTel is requested to provide comprehensive answers, including rationale and any supporting information, to the attached questions by 21 January 2014.

Sincerely,

Original signed by

Special Facilities Tariff

At paragraph 14 of its application, SaskTel requested that the Commission allow the Company to apply a very similar treatment to the business rates in Special Facilities Tariffs CRTC 21413, Extended Area Service, items 1000.18 – Christopher Lake, 1000.19 – Marshall, 1000.20 – Meath Park, and 1000.21 – Paddockwood, to what is applied to residential customers in high-cost serving areas (HCSAs).

  1. Identify what effect removing the business Extended Area Service rate from these tariffs will have upon customers subscribing to these Special Facilities Tariffs.

a. Will there be any change in the total rate? If so, identify the difference in the rate.

b. How many customers will be affected by these changes?
