Re: Application 2014-0372-4 – CFLZ-FM Fort Erie, ON
Dear Mr. Poulton,
This is in reference to your application for a licence amendment to CFLZ-FM Fort Erie. In order to pursue the analysis of the above noted application, please address the question below:
Definition of a single station market
1. The definition of a «single-station market» was defined as such by the Local Programming Policy for FM Radio – Definition of a single-station market, public notice CRTC 1993-121, August 17 1993:
A single-station market is any community that only one commercial FM radio station has been licensed to serve, provided that :
[A] the 3 mV/m contour of this FM station does not encompass a significant part of a second community that another AM or FM commercial radio station has been licensed to serve and whose population is equal to, or greater than, that of the first community, and
[B] the community is not situated within the 3 mV/m contour of any other licensed commercial FM station, or
[C] if so situated, is a community whose distance (centre to centre) from the community served by the other station is 60 kilometres or more.
Commission staff notes that there are a number of commercial radio services operating in the area and that the distance between Fort Erie and other markets, such as St.Catherines, Welland and Niagara Falls, would appear to be located within the 60 kilometres distance referred to in (C) above. In light of this,
- Please submit your comments on the reasons for which you believe the Commission should consider Fort Erie as a single-station market.
Considering the above request, the timetable for the proceeding is changed as follows:
Notice | Subject | Posted Date | Deadlines |
Part 1 | Vista Radio Ltd. | 7 May 2014 |
|
The information requested herein should be received by the Commission no later than
12 June 2014, failing which, your application may be returned to be completed and resubmitted with the Commission should you wish to pursue this proposal.
Yours sincerely,
Sherwin Pagtakhan
