Application 2013-1090-4
CJSW-FM Calgary – Technical changes
1. The Commission approves the application by The University of Calgary Student Radio Society to change the authorized contours of the community-based campus radio programming undertaking CJSW-FM Calgary, Alberta, to increase the average effective radiated power from 4,000 watts to 18,000 watts (non-directional antenna) and to change the class from B to C1. The Commission received several interventions in support of this application.
2. The licensee indicated that these changes are necessary to reduce interference resulting from the entry of new high-power radio stations on the FM band in Calgary.
3. The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
