DMTS – Withdrawal of Mobile Radio and Paging Services
File number: DMTS Tariff Notice 56
1. The Commission received an application from DMTS, dated 21 February 2014, in which the company proposed to withdraw section 800 – Mobile Radio and Paging Services from its General Tariff. The company requested that this change take effect on 10 March 2014.
2. DMTS submitted that no customers have subscribed to the services for over a year. DMTS added that it did not anticipate any demand for the services in the foreseeable future, since customers of these services are now using different systems, such as cellular telephone services and third-party paging systems.
3. In Telecom Order 2014-100, the Commission approved DMTS’s application on an interim basis.
4. The Commission received no interventions regarding this application. The public record of this proceeding, which closed on 20 April 2014, is available on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca or by using the file number provided above.
5. The Commission considers that, except for the proposed effective date, DMTS’s application complies with the requirements in Telecom Information Bulletin 2010-455, in which the Commission set out its procedures for dealing with applications to destandardize and/or withdraw tariffed services.Footnote 1 That bulletin stipulates that an application to destandardize and/or withdraw a tariffed service must be submitted to the Commission at least 45 business days before the proposed effective date. Since DMTS submitted its application less than 45 business days before the proposed effective date, the Commission has modified the effective date.
6. Accordingly, the Commission approves on a final basis DMTS’s application, with an effective date of 25 April 2014.
