RE: Wholesale mobile wireless roaming in Canada – Unjust discrimination/undue preference, Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2013-685 – Request for disclosure of information filed in confidence
By letter dated 19 December 2013, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) requested the disclosure of information for which confidentiality was claimed that was made part of the record of the above-noted proceeding. Specifically, PIAC requested the disclosure of information filed in response to Questions 5, 6 and 7 of the Commission staff’s letter dated 30 August 2013 that requested information on roaming from certain Canadian wireless carriers. Questions 5, 6 and 7 of the aforementioned letter requested certain Canadian wireless carriers to provide the following information:
• current roaming rate(s), terms and conditions for voice, data, and text messaging charged to their subscribers for usage incurred in Canada;
• current roaming rate(s), terms and conditions for voice, data, and text messaging charged to their subscribers for usage incurred in the United States; and
• roaming rates, as applicable, for voice, data, and text messaging at year-end for each of the years 2007 to 2012 for their customers roaming in Canada and the United States. For each of these services, wireless carriers were asked to provide a list of all changes to their company’s retail roaming rates, and the date when each change took effect over that period.
All companies identified in the distribution list, as applicable, are to reply to PIAC’s request by 8 January 2014. The companies are reminded that documents to be filed with the Commission and served on PIAC must be received, not merely sent, by that date.
