Re: SaskTel’s Tariff Notice 283 – Revision to Occasional Broadcast-Quality Video Transmission Channel Service

Dear Mr. Hersche:
The Commission received an application from SaskTel Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel), dated 27 June 2013, in which the company proposed changes to item 585.02 – Occasional Broadcast-Quality Video Transmission Channel Service of its General Tariff – Competitive Services, in order to revise the rates and one of the conditions associated with ordering.

SaskTel is requested to respond to the attached interrogatory by 12 July 2013.

Yours sincerely,

1. At paragraph 5 its cover letter, SaskTel states

The amount of notice required in the previous tariff for service was “48 hours or more”. This is being adjusted to say “5 working days” to be in line with what SaskTel is actually capable of offering and is a more realistic time frame to provide this service.

Commission staff considers that this implies that SaskTel is not capable of providing the service unless advance notice of 5 or more working days is provided.

Commission staff notes, however, that on page 210 of the company’s proposed tariff, rates are specified for cases where advance notice of less than 5 working days would be provided.

Provide further rationale as to why SaskTel considers that this condition concerning the amount of advance notice that must be provided, which has been in place since at least June of 2000, must be change
