Dear Sirs:

RE: Request for Winding-down of CRTC Mandated Shaw-TELUS Joint Committee

In Telecom Decision CRTC 2011-486 , the Commission required Shaw Communications Inc. (Shaw) and TELUS Communications Company’s (TCC) to form a joint committee to resolve issues pertaining to support structure access. The Commission indicated that the joint committee was to remain in place, conduct meetings, and provide reports on the progress of its meetings until Commission staff provided notice that the meetings and/or the reports were no longer required.
By way of letter dated 1 February 2013, Shaw indicated that, given the progress made by the Joint Committee to date, oversight by the Commission of the process is no longer required, and the company requested approval to that effect.
Commission staff agrees, based on the summary reports of the meetings filed with the Commission by the parties, that the Shaw/TCC Joint Committee has made notable progress in addressing issues pertaining to support structure access. Accordingly, Commission staff considers that its oversight regarding the meetings of the Joint Committee and related reports pursuant to the above-noted decision are no longer required.

Sincerely,
