Re: Clarification regarding Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2012-695

Dear Ms. Spenrath,

The Commission acknowledges receipt of your email, dated 21 December 2012, relating to the publication of Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2012-695 (Decision 2012-695), in which the Commission renewed the broadcasting licences for CIVL-FM Ottawa and CIGM-FM Sudbury, Ontario.

In your email, you correctly pointed out that the reference to CIGM-FM’s over and above contributions to Canadian content development (CCD) in paragraph 12 of Decision 2012-695 should be consistent with the condition of licence 3 found in Appendix 2 to that decision, as well as with condition of licence 4 set out in Appendix 1 of Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2008-326 (Decision 2008-326).

The condition of licence that was originally imposed on CIGM-FM Sudbury in Decision 2008-326, and which is to be carried into the next licence term in Decision 2012-695, requires CIGM-FM to make annual contributions of $42,857 to the promotion and development of Canadian content, until the end of the 2015-2016 broadcast year, for a total amount of $300,000 over seven consecutive broadcast years.

Staff confirms that the terms and conditions of licence to which CIGM-FM must adhere for the duration of its licence term are those set out in Appendix 2 to Decision 2012-695. This letter and the decision in question will form part of the station’s file for future reference.

Sincerely,
