Application 2012-1400-9
CBOF-FM Ottawa and its transmitter CBOF-FM-7 Brockville –Technical change
1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to modify the technical parameters of CBOF-FM-7 Brockville, Ontario, a transmitter for the French-language radio programming undertaking CBOF-FM Ottawa.
2. The CBC proposed to change the antenna’s radiation pattern from non-directional to directional, to decrease the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 2,500 to 791 watts (maximum ERP from 2,500 to 1,495 watts) and to increase the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 100.5 to 151.9 meters. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
3. The CBC stated that this amendment is necessary since it wishes to use the same antenna for CBOF-FM-7 and CBOB-FM Brockville, a new rebroadcasting transmitter for the national, English-language Radio One network.
4. The Commission reminds the applicant that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
