CBQT-FM Thunder Bay and its transmitter CBEB-FM Manitouwadge – Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of CBEB-FM Manitouwadge, Ontario, a transmitter for the radio programming undertaking CBQT-FM Thunder Bay, by changing the class from B to B1, by decreasing the average effective radiated power from 46,400 watts to 4,780 watts (non-directional antenna), and by increasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 125.5 to 174.1 metres. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.

2. The licensee indicated that this amendment is needed to reduce, on a long-term basis, its installation and operating costs.

3. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
