Changes to hearing date and procedure
1. With this notice, the Commission revises the hearing date and certain procedural dates established in Review of wholesale services and associated policies, Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2013-551, 15 October 2013.
2. By letter dated 18 October 2013, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC), on behalf of itself and other parties,[1] requested an extension to the deadline for the filing of the first round of interventions in the current proceeding. PIAC claimed that an extension, from 6 December 2013 to 31 January 2014, would enable parties to procure expert advice and testimony, which could then be filed and considered early in the process.
3. The Commission considers this request to be reasonable. Given the length of the extension requested, the Commission considers it appropriate to also delay the hearing date by a short period.[2]
4. Accordingly, the Commission revises the procedural dates for the proceeding as set out below. The relevant revised paragraph and amended Appendix 2 of the notice follow for ease of reference (changes are in bold italics):
41. Interested persons who wish to become parties to this proceeding must file an intervention with the Commission regarding the above-noted issues by 31 January 2014. The intervention must be filed in accordance with section 26 of the Rules of Procedure and must include one of the following statements in either the first or the last paragraph:
1. I request to appear at the public hearing.
2. I do not want to appear at the public hearing.
