Saskatchewan Telecommunications – Withdrawal of Voice Grade Facilities – In-House service

File number: Tariff Notice 276

1. The Commission received an application from Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel), dated 16 November 2012, in which the company proposed to withdraw from its General Tariff item 500.08 – Voice Grade Facilities – In-House, effective 13 February 2013.

2. SaskTel submitted that this service was destandardized in 1999 and that there are no subscribers at this time.

3. SaskTel also submitted that it currently offers Customer Wire Services as an alternative to the Voice Grade Facilities – In-House service.

4. The Commission approved SaskTel’s application on an interim basis in Telecom Order 2012-649.

5. The Commission received no comments regarding SaskTel’s application. The public record of this proceeding, which closed on 15 January 2013, is available on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca under “Public Proceedings” or by using the file number provided above.

6. The Commission notes that since the Voice Grade Facilities – In-House service was destandardized in 1999 and no customers currently subscribe to the service, customer notification was not required. The Commission considers that SaskTel’s proposal complies with the requirements set out in Telecom Decision 2008-22, in which the Commission revised its procedures for dealing with applications to destandardize and/or withdraw tariffed services.

7. Accordingly, the Commission approves on a final basis SaskTel’s application.
