Saskatchewan Telecommunications – Withdrawal of Digital Video Service Delivery

File number: Tariff Notice 282

1. The Commission received an application from Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel), dated 11 June 2013, in which the company proposed to withdraw item 1000.22 – Digital Video Service Delivery from its Special Facilities Tariff, effective 25 June 2013.

2. SaskTel submitted that the service in question had been offered on a contractual basis to a sole customer. The company noted that the customer’s contract had expired and that the customer did not wish to continue the service.

3. The Commission approved SaskTel’s application on an interim basis in Telecom Order 2013-294.

4. The Commission received no interventions regarding SaskTel’s application. The public record of this proceeding, which closed on 22 June 2013, is available on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca under “Public Proceedings” or by using the file number provided above.

5. The Commission considers that SaskTel’s proposal complies with the requirements in Telecom Information Bulletin 2010-455, in which the Commission set out its procedures for dealing with applications to destandardize and/or withdraw tariffed services,[1] with one exception. In this regard, the Commission notes that Telecom Information Bulletin 2010-455 stipulates that an application to destandardize and/or withdraw a tariffed service must be submitted to the Commission at least 45 business days before the proposed effective date. The Commission notes that it received SaskTel’s application less than 45 business days prior to the proposed effective date.

6. Accordingly, the Commission approves on a final basis SaskTel’s application, effective 15 August 2013.
