Northwestel Inc. – Withdrawal of two-party and multi-party residential services

File number: Tariff Notice 893

1. The Commission received an application from Northwestel Inc. (Northwestel), dated 4 February 2013, in which the company proposed changes to various items in its General Tariff in order to withdraw its two-party and multi-party residential services, effective 11 February 2013.

2. The Commission approved Northwestel’s application on an interim basis, effective 19 February 2013, in Telecom Order 2013-65.

3. The Commission received no comments regarding Northwestel’s application. The public record of this proceeding, which closed on 18 March 2013, is available on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca under “Public Proceedings” or by using the file number provided above.

4. The Commission notes that Northwestel’s two-party and multi-party residential services have not been offered to new customers since 21 April 2001, as per Order 2001-302, and that there are no longer any customers subscribing to them. The Commission therefore considers that Northwestel’s proposal complies with the requirements set out in Telecom Decision 2008-22, in which the Commission revised its procedures for dealing with applications to destandardize and/or withdraw tariffed services.

5. Accordingly, the Commission approves on a final basis Northwestel’s application.
