RE: Request for an extension to respond to a Bell Aliant forbearance application

Dear Madam:

On 3 December 2012, Bragg Communications Inc., operating as EastLink (EastLink), filed a letter requesting an extension for submitting its response to Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership’s (Bell Aliant) application for forbearance from the regulation of business local exchange services in certain exchanges in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.

EastLink submitted that its initial analysis of Bell Aliant’s application had resulted in concerns about accuracy and that the company required more time to complete its analysis. EastLink submitted that it expected to be able to complete the necessary analysis by 12 December 2012.

Commission staff considers EastLink’s request to be reasonable and, therefore, approves an extension to 12 December 2012 for the company to file its comments on Bell Aliant’s application. Bell Aliant may file a reply with the Commission by 8 January 2013, given that the 10th day following 12 December 2012 falls within the holiday period of 21 December 2012 to 7 January 2013.

Yours sincerely,
