RE:  Tariff Notice 9 – Revision to Local Service Request (LSR) Rejection Charge

Dear Ms. Badea:

On 22 October 2012, the Commission received an application by Iristel Inc. (Iristel), under Tariff Notice 9 (TN 9), in which the company proposed a revision to its LSR rejection charge. The company indicated that its application was filed as a Group B tariff filing.

Commission staff notes that in Review of conditions for approval of a local service request rejection charge, Telecom Regulatory Policy, CRTC 2012-523, 28 September 2012 (TRP 2012-523), the Commission specified that the threshold rates for Iristel will decrease on the anniversary of the date that the tariff was first approved by the Commission. The Commission also directed Iristel to issue revised tariff pages within 15 days of the date of the decision.

Commission staff notes that the dates associated with the rate thresholds set out in Iristel’s letter are not specific and may cause confusion for customers. Further, the effective date of the tariff should be August 7, 2012, as specified in TRP 2012-523. Commission staff also notes that a tariff application is not required when a company is directed to “issue” tariff pages.

Because Iristel’s application does not comply with the directions set out in TRP 2012-523, this file is closed.

Iristel may issue revised tariff pages, addressing the above-mentioned concerns. The revised tariff pages can be submitted to the Commission without a description page or an approval request; a tariff application is not required.

Yours sincerely,
