RE:   Status of implementation of local competition and wireless number portability in small ILEC territories

In recent Telecom Decisions1, the Commission approved the implementation plans for local competition, including local number portability (referred to jointly as local competition) and/or wireless number portability (WNP) in territories of various small incumbent local exchange carriers (small ILECs). As part of these decisions, the Commission directed the small ILECs to implement local competition and WNP as quickly as possible so that competitors may begin operating within the small ILECs’ serving territory by no later than 23 July 2012.

Commission staff requests Téléphone Milot inc., Sogetel inc., Téléphone Guèvremont inc., Bruce Telecom, Hay Communications Co-operative Limited, Mornington Communications Co-operative Limited, Tuckersmith Communications Co-operative Limited, and Wightman Telecom Ltd. provide a status update regarding their respective implementation plans.

Accordingly, the companies are to submit, by 29 June 2012, the below information in order to confirm that they will complete the implementation of local competition/WNP by the prescribed date of 23 July 2012.

Field tests undertaken with competitor(s) on LNP and CLOG procedures and systems    
All tests completed successfully and competitor(s) is/are operational as a CLEC in the Company’s LIR
