RE: Application by Northwestel to Review and Vary Telecom Decision CRTC 2012-4 and to Stay Paragraph 20
Dear Sir/Madam:
Commission staff notes that, consistent with the Commission’s determinations in SSi Micro Ltd. – Application regarding Northwestel Inc.’s backbone connectivity services, Telecom Decision CRTC 2012-4, 5 January 2012 (Telecom Decision 2012-4), Northwestel Inc. (Northwestel) was to have filed a tariff and associated cost studies for its V-Connect service within 30 days of that decision. Instead, Northwestel filed the above application on
6 February 2012, requesting a review and vary of the decision, and a stay of paragraph 20 requiring it to file a tariff and cost studies. The application was posted on the Commission’s website on 9 February 2012.
In light of the importance of bringing competition to Canada’s north, and of the filing deadlines associated with Telecom Decision 2012-4, Commission staff is of the view that the comment period for this application should be shortened.
As a result, interested persons may file interventions by 24 February 2012. Northwestel is to file its reply by 29 February 2012. Submissions should address both the review and vary application and the request for a stay.
Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be received, and not merely sent, by that date.
