Re:   Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership and Bell Canada – destandardize legacy Aggregated High-Speed Service Provider Interface

The Commission received a joint application by Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership (Bell Aliant) and Bell Canada (collectively, the Companies), dated 19 December 2011, in which the Companies proposed changes to their General Tariffs, Gateway Access Service, item 5410 section 4. (f). Specifically, the Companies proposed to destandardize legacy Asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) Aggregated High-Speed Service Provider Interfaces (AHSSPIs) for DS-3 and OC-3 ports provisioned on ATM switches (Legacy ATM AHSSPIs) and the 10, 100 and 400 Mbps interfaces provisioned on Ethernet switches that face the Companies’ ATM network (Legacy Ethernet AHSSPIs).

Contained within the concluding section of the Companies’ application, it was identified that pursuant to the process set out in the Commission staff letter dated 29 November 2011 regarding the suspension of tariff approvals during the December-January holiday period, comments on the Companies’ proposed tariff notices should be sent to the Commission no later than 20 February 2012.

Commission staff notes that the correct date, pursuant to the Rules of Procedure, is 16 February 2012. However, given the Companies’ statement, Commission staff finds it appropriate to allow interested persons to file their interventions with the Commission, serving copies on the applicants, by 20 February 2012. Reply comments are due on 1 March 2012. The comment and reply comments are to be received, and not merely sent, by the dates identified.

Sincerely yours,
