Re: Broadcasting Notices of Consultation CRTC 2012-246 and CRTC 2012-246-1, Call for comments on opening up the programming genre of popular music to competition, and on proposed standard conditions of licence for competitive Canadian specialty Category C services operating in the genre of popular music (the Notice).
Ms. Wheeler,
Ms. Courtemanche,
Mr. Goldstein,
As set out in the aforementioned Notice, the scope of the process is to determine whether the Commission should open the genre of popular music to competition or not and whether the proposed standard conditions of licence for competitive Canadian specialty Category C services operating in the genre of popular music are appropriate or not.
As part of your interventions filed in this process, you have requested that the Commission initiate a complete review of its genre exclusivity policy for specialty services (the Policy) instead of opening the genre of popular music to competition. The portion of your interventions that contains that request is out of scope of the process and will not be considered by the Commission.
Also, any replies (in whole or in part) filed in this process responding to the portion of the interventions that contains that request to review the Policy will not be considered by the Commission.
Sincerely,
Original signed by
John Traversy
Secretary General
