Subject : CRTC reference 476415, Broadcasting Regulatory Policies CRTC 2011-741 and 2011-741-1, on the French-language closed captioning quality standards - French-language Closed Captioning Quality Standards Working Group

Dear Ms. Croteau,

This is further to your 7 May 2012 letter, sent on behalf of the French-language Closed Captioning Quality Standards Working Group (FL-CCWG), regarding the deadline for submitting an updated version of the French-language closed captioning quality standards and best practices that reflects the Commission’s determinations set out in policies 2011-741 and 2011-741-1.

You indicate in your letter that the majority of the FL-CCWG members have agreed on an updated version of the standards that will be submitted to the Commission, with the exception of one group member who has been unable to provide comments due to health concerns. You further request that the deadline for submitting the revised standards be postponed to 16 May in order to allow the working group member to provide his input.

Staff recognizes the importance of receiving feedback from all of the working group members. As such, staff will be expecting the working group’s updated version of the standards by 16 May 2012.

Sincerely,

Nanao Kachi
