New AM radio station – Licence amendment
1. The Commission approves the application by 7954689 Canada inc. to amend the broadcasting licence for its French-language commercial AM radio programming undertaking authorized in AM radio stations in Montréal, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2011-721, 21 November 2011, by relocating the transmitter from its current site in Saint-Constant to a new site in Kahnawake, Quebec. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
2. The applicant noted that it filed this application for technical reasons only. It added that a different transmitter site was necessary to accommodate the station’s transmitter array.
3. The Commission notes that the requested amendment will not result in an appreciable change in coverage.
4. The Commission reminds the applicant that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
*This decision is to be appended to the licence.
