Rogers Broadcasting Limited
London, Ontario
Application 2011-1671-5
CHST-FM London – Technical change
1. The Commission approves the application by Rogers Broadcasting Limited (Rogers) to change the technical parameters of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CHST-FM London, Ontario, by increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 5,840 to 20,400 watts (directional antenna with a maximum ERP from 12,100 to 100,000 watts), and by changing its class from B1 to C1. The Commission received numerous interventions in support of this application.
2. Rogers requested this technical change in order to improve the reception of its signal within its authorized contours and cited listener complaints as well as an engineering report that shows pockets of poor reception within its contours as justification for its request.
3. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
