Re: Tariff Notice 424

Dear Mr. Mercier:

On 20 January 2011, the Commission received an application from Télébec, Limited Partnership (Télébec), under cover of Tariff Notice 424. The company is seeking to amend its General Tariff CRTC 25140, Item 2.1 – Basic Services Provided Outside the Company’s Serving Area, in order to destandardize the private and party line services using radiotelephone technology for new residential and business line service customers.

An interrogatory regarding this tariff notice is attached. In accordance with the procedures and timelines set out in Telecom Decision CRTC 2008-22 of 6 March 2008 entitled Mandatory customer contract renewal notification and requirements for service destandardization/withdrawal, Télébec is required to file its responses to the interrogatory no later than 24 February 2011.

Yours sincerely,

ATTACHMENT

Télébec, Limited Partnership, TN 424 Interrogatory

In its Tariff Notice, the company states that it has attempted to find alternative solutions to serve its customers of private and party line services using radiotelephone technology. The company also states that there is currently no radio service capable of providing a comparable telephone service.

Since the service that the company proposes to destandardize is a basic local service, specify which other type(s) of telephone services could replace the service currently provided by means of radiotelephone technology if the company decided to withdraw that service at a later date.
