Call for comments on the Canadian Broadcasting Participation Fund

Extension of deadline for the submission of interventions to 7 November 2011, and for the submission of a reply to 17 November 2011

1.        In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2011-523, the Commission called for comments on the Broadcasting Accessibility Fund. Further to the issuance of that notice of consultation, the Commission received a request for an extension of the deadline for the submission of interventions.

2.        In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2011-524, the Commission called for comments on the Canadian Broadcasting Participation Fund. Since the structures of the funds proposed by BCE Inc. (BCE), as set out in each of the above-noted notices of consultation, are similar, the Commission considers that Broadcasting Notices of Consultation 2011-523 and 2011-524 should be procedurally linked. In this regard, the Commission has announced in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2011-523-1, also issued today, that the deadlines set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2011-523 for the submission of interventions and of a reply by BCE have been extended to 7 November 2011 and 17 November 2011, respectively. Accordingly, given the link between Broadcasting Notices of Consultation 2011-523 and 2011-524, the Commission announces that the deadline set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2011-524 for the submission of interventions has also been extended to 7 November 2011, and that the deadline for the submission of a reply by BCE has also been extended to 17 November 2011.
