Application 2011-0495-0, received 17 March 2011
CIUP-FM Edmonton – Technical change
1. The Commission approves the application by Rawlco Radio Ltd. (Rawlco) to change the technical parameters of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CIUP-FM Edmonton by increasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 148.4 to 272 meters and by relocating its transmitter. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
2. Rawlco, who is also the licensee of CKNO-FM Edmonton, stated that the relocation of CIUP-FM's transmitter will allow it to house the technical facilities of both stations at the same location.
3. The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
