CKKY Wainwright – Technical change
1. The Commission approves the application by Newcap Inc. to amend the broadcasting licence for the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CKKY Wainwright to change the frequency of its transmitter from 830 kHz to 1080 kHz and to change the authorized contours by increasing the night-time power from 3,500 to 9,000 watts. The implementation is subject to the notification by the Department of Industry (the Department) discussed in paragraph 3. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
2. The licensee stated that the proposed amendments would improve night-time service to listeners in the rural Wainwright area.
3. The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
