Dear Sirs:

Re:  Follow-up to Use of deferral accounts to improve access to telecommunications services for persons with disabilities and to expand broadband services to rural and remote communities, Telecom Decision CRTC 2008-1 (Telecom Decision 2008-1) – Request for extension to provide response to interrogatory

The Commission is in receipt of correspondence from Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership and Bell Canada (collectively, the Bell companies) dated 27 May 2010, requesting an extension until 8 June 2010 for filing their reply comments.  The Bell companies indicated that they required this extension due to the extensive workload associated with other regulatory proceedings, and because they had only lately become aware of the comments filed by Rogers Communications Inc. and Barrett Xplore Inc. and Barrett Broadband Networks Inc., as neither of these parties had sent their comments to the Companies.

Commission staff considers that, under the circumstances, the Bell companies’ request is acceptable.

The Bell companies are to file their reply comments with the Commission, serving copies on all other parties to the proceeding, including parties listed in the attached distribution list.  Submissions must be received, not merely sent, by the date noted above.

Yours sincerely,
