Subject: Tariff notices 534 and 534A – Public Emergency Reporting Service

Dear Ms. Duguay:

The Commission received an application from Telus Communications Company (TCC), dated 11 March 2010, and amended on 16 March, in which TCC requested that the Commission approve, for the period from 1 January 2010 to 28 February 2010, the rates that TCC billed for its 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service during that period. Specifically, TCC said that, although the rates for this service became effective on 1 March 2010, they were billed beginning 1 January 2010 in response to a request by Québécor Média inc.

Commission staff notes that TCC asked only that the Commission ratify the rates billed under section 25(4) of the Telecommunications Act. In accordance with established Commission practice with regard to requests for approval, this application will not be approved provisionally on the 15th calendar day following its receipt. However, the Commission plans to make a determination regarding this application within 45 working days of its receipt.

Sincerely,

Senior Manager, Tariffs
Telecommunications
